14-day UX Writing Challenge
Hi!
My name is Nana. The first time I heard about UX Writing, I thought it made perfect sense. Of course there had to be writers behind the text that helps us navigate the apps and services that make our lives easier, and our world a more connected place. Naturally, I decided to learn more. I joined UX Writers Africa, and I’ve learned a lot along the way.
But learning is incomplete without practice. With the 14-day UX writing challenge, I’m putting my learning to the test, hoping I can build solid habits, get valuable feedback (I’d appreciate your comments, insights and suggestions!), and develop as a UX Writer.
Day 1
Ideation Process
This prompt speaks of a traveler who is contemplating arriving home. They’re on the last leg of their flight home.
This means a couple of things.
It is likely that the traveler is tired, in an unfamiliar country, and anticipating a return to ‘Home, Sweet Home’.
A flight cancellation is the last thing that this traveler needs.
The traveler would not be very excited about this development, although it is caused by bad weather, a circumstance beyond the airline’s control. The best thing to do would be to keep the message short, laying out the options available to the traveler in this predicament. It can be anticipated that the traveler would be interested in getting home as soon as possible. The link to a flight rebooking portal can be placed in a “Rebook Flight” button. However, the traveler may also be interested in a refund, and other compensatory offers (eg. complimentary hotel accommodation, etc.) the link to which can be placed in a “Other Options” button.
