The Prompt

Scenario: The user works in graphic design. While critiquing a design in a mobile app, their phone abruptly turns off. When they restart the phone, they reopen the app.

Challenge: Write a message that the user will read immediately upon opening the app. What do they need to know? What steps (if any) do they need to take to recover their content? What if they can’t recover the content?

Headline: 40 characters max
Body: 140 characters max
Button(s): 20 characters max

Ideation Process

Today’s user is Nana, the graphic design team lead!

Nana was critiquing a design in an app when her battery suddenly died. She has switched her phone on now, but the work continues.

What do we say in the app?

Goals

  • To remind Nana of her uncompleted comment, so she can continue making the comment if the app allows it.
  • To give Nana the opportunity to write another comment if the app does not allow her to retrieve her uncompleted comment.

Result

Option 1: The app allows her to continue her uncompleted comment

Headline: Your thoughts matter
Body: It appears your comment was unposted. Would you like to continue?
Button(s): Continue / Discard

Option 2: The app does not give the option of retrieving the uncompleted comment

Headline: Your thoughts matter
Body: Share them with your team!
Button(s): Create Comment / Close

Thank you for reading! See you tomorrow for Day 6, and don’t forget to comment!
