The Prompt

UX Writing Challenge: Day 8
Scenario: The user is a casual music fan and (on occasion) goes to live concerts. They have a music player app on their phone.

Challenge: Tell the user that one of their favorite bands is playing live in their town. How would you compel them to want to go?

Headline: 30 characters max
Body: 45 characters max
Button: 25 characters

Ideation Process

Today’s user is a casual music fan music lover. Her name is Nana. Nana isn’t extremely keen on concerts, and only goes to them on occasion.

But her favourite band is Rivers and Robots.

As a music fan, she uses a music app, called Octave. Octave allows you to keep tabs on your favourite musicians, especially when they are coming to a place near you.

They’re going to be playing at the Orpheum on Saturday, 30th September. The doors open at 6pm.

How do we convey this message to Nana in a simple way using a notification?

We could present the benefits to her. Research by Eventbrite shows that live events promote connection with others. This could be a good selling point, as Nana is likely to be excited about connecting with other Rivers and Robots fans, and even the members of the band.

The copy would be as follows:

Headline: Connect with your tribe!
Body: Rivers & Robots @ The Orpheum, Sep 30, 6pm
Button: Tickets / Remind Me Later

Goals

  • To inform Nana that her favourite band is coming to her city
  • To encourage her to get tickets/ set a reminder about the concert if she isn’t ready to buy tickets now.

Result

Headline: Connect with your tribe!
Body: Rivers & Robots @ The Orpheum, Sep 30, 6pm
Button: Tickets / Remind Me Later

Thanks for reading! See you tomorrow for Day 9, and don’t forget to comment!
